Expository Writing
A writing-intensive course developing critical reading, analytical thinking, and argumentative writing skills
This first-year seminar approaches writing as a form of critical thinking and a tool for intellectual discovery. Working through a sequence of paired readings, students learn to identify unexpected connections between texts, construct original arguments substantiated by close analysis, and articulate complex ideas with clarity and precision. The course emphasizes revision, peer collaboration, and intellectual risk-taking within a supportive community.
